This artwork was inspired by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's gothic novel Frankenstein, her interest in the popular scientific theories of the time and the relationships between electricity, reanimation and life and death states.

The Lady And Her Monster In Copper was created by photographing a hand-cut collage of female portraiture, hand printed paper negatives of petri dish cultures and microscopic cell structures and an illustration of a fox skull. The digital negative was then contact printed onto handmade paper brush coated with chemicals, before drying in a dark room. Once exposed to light, the piece was washed to develop a cyan blue colour, pressed dry and then hand finished with chemically treated, heated zinc leaf.
